I led the pitch-winning creative direction for the official website of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, securing Blonde as digital partner for one of the UK’s highest-profile global events.
The challenge was to design and deliver a platform capable of supporting millions of users across multiple phases, from early engagement and volunteer recruitment through to ticketing, live updates and real-time communications during Games time.
Working closely with stakeholders and technical teams, I defined the overall digital experience and created the core design system, establishing a flexible and robust framework to support evolving content and priorities.
Over a two-year period, I led the creative output and directed a multidisciplinary team, ensuring consistency, clarity and performance across all touchpoints.
The platform operated at significant scale, handling millions of sessions with 100% uptime during the Games, supported by round-the-clock delivery and real-time content management.
The result was a resilient, high-performing digital experience described by the client as “utterly flawless”, contributing to a globally recognised and highly successful event.
